The CoCoMag project is pleased to share that Prof. Dr. Oliver Gutfleisch, from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Coordinator of the CoCoMag project, was invited to speak at INTERMAG 2026 (13 – 17 April 2026), held in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Recognised as one of the leading international conferences in the field of magnetism and magnetic materials, INTERMAG brings together researchers from around the world to discuss the latest research across the broad spectrum of fundamental and applied magnetism.

Prof. Gutfleisch contributed to the focused symposium entitled “From Heuslers to High-Entropy Alloys: Disorder, Topology, and Tunable Magnetotransport”, alongside a distinguished panel of international speakers:

Prof. Claudia Felser – Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids

Prof. Hari Srikanth – University of South Florida

Prof. Atsufumi Hirohata – Tohoku University

Prof. Gen Yin – Georgetown University

In his presentation, Prof. Gutfleisch highlighted the crucial role of magnets as key enablers of the green energy transition and the electrification of infrastructure and mobility. He presented ongoing research on all-d Heusler alloys and high-entropy alloys (HEAs) for applications in soft magnets and magnetocaloric materials, with longer-term perspectives for permanent magnets.

The work aims to harness the vast compositional flexibility of HEAs to develop new alloy and microstructure design concepts capable of reducing dependence on critical raw materials while introducing new functionalities beyond primary magnetic performance.

Prof. Gutfleisch’s participation at INTERMAG 2026 reflects the strong international recognition of the expertise developed within the CoCoMag consortium and highlights the project’s contribution to advancing next-generation magnetic materials.

Through its presence at major scientific events, CoCoMag continues to strengthen international collaboration and promote research excellence in the field of innovative and sustainable magnetic technologies.
