During the conference, Zhe Cui presented recent computational work supporting the design of next-generation magnetocaloric materials. His presentation, entitled “Integrating High-Throughput DFT Descriptors with Machine Learning for Efficient Materials Discovery,” highlighted how advanced electronic structure calculations and simulation approaches can accelerate the discovery and optimisation of compositionally complex magnetocaloric alloys.

The work combines high-throughput density functional theory (DFT) methodologies with machine learning techniques to support the efficient design of innovative magnetic materials while reducing reliance on rare-earth elements. These approaches contribute to the development of more sustainable and energy-efficient technologies for future magnetic refrigeration applications.

Beyond the scientific sessions, the conference also provided valuable opportunities for networking and exchange within the international magnetism community. Members of the University of Seville team participated in the INTERMAG welcome reception, where researchers from around the world gathered to connect and discuss the latest developments in magnetic materials and sustainable refrigeration technologies.

Participation in INTERMAG 2026 further strengthened the visibility of CoCoMag within the international research community and highlighted the project’s continued commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable magnetic materials.
